First few days...

Hello!

We made it! :) I arrived yesterday afternoon on time, wrinkle free & with no problems at immigration... which may be a first. I basically walked from the plane into Mikey's bus compared to our usual hour(s) wait for other teams in the 99.9% humidity. Gregory, Mikey and I went and sat in a village area which kind of looked like a park where people parked their cars wherever they felt was a good spot and were sitting out eating or relaxing. Mikey told me to get my computer out to email Corinne and thats when I found out this little grassy area had wireless and realized how much this island's changing. We sat in the bus with the windows open for a few hours and went to pick up the Notre Dame team back at the airport. As usual it was great to see familiar faces and new one's excited to see what their week will bring. Also as usual, the bus ride from Mo Bay to St. Ann's Bay was filled with yelling, singing, chanting, catch phrase and other important noises that need to be made when you arrive in Jamaica.

We got back to the villa and I talked and talked and talked with Gregory, Aaron and Betty. The team swam and played soccer before dinner. We have new ladies at the villas! They made an UNBELIEVABLE dinner (not that I've ever complained about the food here) filled with some new things... pumpkin soup, some form of fruit mix, chicken, rice & beans, sweet potato pie, veggies... amazing. This morning we had eggs sunny side up with plantains and the best pineapple and papaya in the world. Don't worry about us starving...

Today has been the most unbelievably perfect day imaginable. I woke up, had breakfast (and blue mountain coffee) and laid by the pool with Betty. There's nothing better than getting to know somebody that you've always known but don't necessarily "know" if you catch my drift. What an amazing person with such a giving heart...

After a peaceful morning by the pool (and fried by 12, may I add) and a service on the beach, we had some lunch and continued our afternoon of relaxation. I read a little but mostly just sat, talked and enjoyed this gorgeous place. Throughout the morning it came out that Betty's a certified Zumba instructor... which led to a full on zumba class on the water at 4! It wassss outrageous. The team was chanting, Betty was telling us to upper-cut someone's face and the Jamaicans were overlooking us trying to dance reggaeton. Amazing. AND it was my first class since the foot break.

After zumba, Gregory, Aaron and I sat and chatted before dinner, dinner & meeting. Now I am burnt, exhausted and so excited to start working tomorrow!

Miss you all.
